What the heck am I doing?

I was recently informed that a loved one didn't think I'd ever really faced my cancer or the scars that persist. I guess this is just my attempt to prove them wrong.

There are 384 emails in my "Hodgkin's" folder. Over the next little while I'll be deleting them one by one. If I can let it go, that means it's over. Right?

In the beginning: the announcement email.

"Hi everyone,
I figured you would all hear eventually and I'd rather you heard it from me. I was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. We have our first appointment with the oncologist in this next week and will be discussing treatment options then. In the mean time, I'd appreciate your prayers for my family as this has hit us all pretty hard. The good news is that the more we learn about Hodgkin's, the less worried we are. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. I hope you're all doing well and wish I had better news to write with! :0)"

Yep, that was it. And I sent it to nearly everyone in my address book. The responses ranged from shock to comfort to offers of prayer. On one hand, it was nice to hear from everyone. I just wish I'd had a better reason to write in the first place. Ah well.
